Maximilian Ullmann brought the Green-Whites into the lead (38th), the Lower Austrians managed to equalize through Suliman Mustapha (63rd). The winning goal for Rapid was scored by Marco Grüll in the 110th minute from a foul penalty.
The game was initially dominated by Admira, who constricted the opponent in the initial phase on their own sixteen. In the second minute, Luca Kronberger hit the side netting after a mistake by ex-Südstädter Emanuel Aiwu, six minutes later Kronberger again failed to put the ball in the goal despite several attempts from the fiver.
After just under half an hour, Rapid found the game better, but was not dangerous for the time being – until the 38th minute: After a cross from Filip Stojkovic and a too short header defense from Lukas Malicsek, Ullmann took over the ball at the edge of the penalty area and hit it by Low shot into the far corner. Rapid also dictated the match in extra time, fought doggedly against low-lying Admirans for the decision and was rewarded for it in the 110th minute. Ganda put Arase just inside the penalty area, and Grüll used the penalty awarded for it. In the end, Thierno Ballo missed the big chance to make it 3-1 (120th) on his debut for Rapid. Nevertheless, after three defeats in a row, the Hütteldorfer managed to win again and the revenge for the 1: 2 home defeat against Admira in the Bundesliga almost two weeks ago.
