Rapid, Lafnitz
In the 13th round of the 2nd league, Rapid II suffered their sixth defeat of the season, losing 4-2 despite a quick lead in Lafnitz.
The winning streak of Lustenau followers Liefering broke after four successes in a row. The young “bulls” had to be content with a 1: 1 against the table bottom light Vorwärts Steyr. Promotion aspirant Wacker Innsbruck celebrated a 2-0 win in Horn.
In Lafnitz, the Rapid youngsters managed to take the 1-0 lead. Bernhard Zimmermann had scored for Patrick Jovanovic's team in the ninth minute. But the Styrians found three days after the 3: 5 bankruptcy after extra time in the ÖFB Cup round of 16 against Wolfsberg back on the winning road.
Philipp Siegl (16th) and Marco Fuchshofer (20th) needed just four minutes to turn the game in favor of the Styrians. Christian Lichtenberger made it 3-1 (42nd) before the break. The young Hütteldorfer came up again in the final phase. Haris Zahirovic made it 2: 3 in the 90th minute. But Philipp Wendler fixed the final score 4: 2 (91st) immediately.
Rapids second team is after the second bust from the last three games in tenth place in the table. With the eighth win of the season, Lafnitz moved up to third place in the table, at least temporarily.
Leader forward Steyr achieved a real sensation against the young “Bulls” from Liefering, struck a 1-1 draw. Oliver Filip scored the opening goal for the Upper Austrians in the 53rd minute. Liefering had increased the pace even after yellow-red against forward kicker Christoph Freitag (72nd), finally celebrating the last-minute equalization by Benjamin Böckle (95th).
After the second draw, Vorwärts remains at the bottom of the table, five points behind the rescuing bank. By dividing the points in one game, Liefering moves up to within two points of Leader Austria Lustenau.
Wacker celebrated their third win in a row with a 2-0 win in Horn and is still flawless under coach Masaki Morass. Ronivaldo (21st) and Joao Luiz (83rd) had netted for the Tyroleans. This means that Wacker remains in close contact with the front in fifth place, while the Horner team remain in ninth place.
