The Viennese set an EL record and had every reason to be satisfied. Coach Kühbauer also saw a “top performance”.
Rapid made it into the Europa League for the ninth time in club history on Thursday evening. The Hütteldorfer prevailed in Zaporischschja against Zorya Luhansk with 3: 2 (2: 1) and after the first leg 3: 0 in the play-off clearly retained the upper hand with 6: 2.
No wonder the Viennese could be satisfied. “That was a top performance from us,” said Rapid coach Didi Kühbauer, “We did what we set out to do right from the start, and with the quick 2-0 lead we also had a good game. This one Overall score is not a question of who was the better team. “
Final whistle! Attention @EuropaLeague we are coming !!! 😎💚

The dream of the Champions League
Leo Greiml and Marco Grüll, who fixed the quick 2-0, played a large part in the success. “I'm happy that we qualified for the group stage in the European Cup. We knew that Luhansk had a really good team, and they showed that in the two games,” said Greiml after the game.
And further: “For me as a 20-year-old boy there is nothing better than playing in the Europa League, except, of course, in the Champions League, and it will come too.” Marco Grüll joined in the cheers: “We are very happy that we have made it. Playing internationally is a very great experience.”
The draw will take place on Friday in Istanbul, the first game will take place on September 16.
