The FIFA Foundation experiences a real rain of money. The institution receives $ 201 million in compensation for crimes committed by former soccer officials. The US Attorney General awarded the money to the Foundation for the losses suffered by FIFA and the continental associations CONCACAF (North America, Central America, Caribbean) and CONMEBOL (South America) as a result of decades of bribery in football.
The money was confiscated from the bank accounts of former officials involved. The funds will flow into the newly created reparation fund under the umbrella of the independent FIFA Foundation, which uses football to promote positive social change around the world. The money will initially benefit youth and community programs within CONCACAF and CONMEBOL. The two continental associations have suffered the most damage from the crimes.
