Rain in Sochi
Rain chaos in Formula 1! The third practice session in Sochi had to be canceled, and qualifying also wobbles a lot.
A few minutes before the third session, the race management in Russia decided not to start training in the first place. FP3 was canceled without replacement, the rain in Sochi is far too heavy.
Red Bull Motorsport Director Dr. Helmut Marko explains on ORF: “The rain is too heavy, there is water everywhere. The risk of aquaplaning is too great.”
An attempt is made to start qualifying at 2 p.m., but a delay of two to three hours seems possible: “According to our forecast, at four o'clock it should be completely dry, so it could happen that we still do qualifying today”, says Marko.
Red Bull expected the rain to cause problems: “We tested the set-up on Friday, we found the necessary knowledge.”
