Austrian authorities will close a number of radical mosques after the Islamist terrorist attack in Vienna. This was announced by the Minister of Culture Suzanne Raab and the Minister of the Interior Karl Nehammer, reports the Austrian news agency APA.
This measure was discussed with the participation of the Mohammedan community – the head of the Austrian Muslim Association (IGGÖ) spoke with the authorities. Sermons have been delivered in 350 Austrian mosques in the past few days in memory of the victims of the attack. In addition, it is known that youth organizations of Muslims and Jews held joint meetings.
Earlier it was reported that after the terrorist attack in Vienna, police detained 14 people. Among them are citizens of Bangladesh, North Macedonia, Turkey, Austria and Russia. Their age ranges from 18 to 26 years old.
The shooting in the Austrian capital began on the evening of November 2: the first shots were fired at about 20:00 local time (22:00 Moscow time) at the synagogue in the city center. It was noted that almost simultaneously with this, several more people opened fire in other places.
