Quiz: can you guess a fact from the history of astronautics?
Space has always attracted people to itself and only a few managed to visit it. Everyone knows the first man in space, Yuri Gagarin. It was in honor of the 20th anniversary of his famous flight, on April 10, 1981, that the Museum of Cosmonautics was opened in Moscow. The idea of creating such a museum belongs to the founder of Soviet rocketry, Sergei Korolev. He decided that it was imperative to popularize astronautics and preserve the legacy of the Russian space age. But the unusual interiors and expositions were designed by the artist Oleg Lomakov, according to his plan, the halls were supposed to create the illusion of being in outer space.
Unfortunately, 20 years after the opening, the premises fell into disrepair and had to be reconstructed. The museum was reopened on April 12, 2009. In addition to mock-ups and technological duplicates, visitors are invited to view unique objects: stuffed Belka and Strelka with the original ejection container for animals in which they returned to Earth, the Soyuz-37 descent vehicle, Friedrich Zander's personal belongings and paintings by Alexei Leonov.
In honor of the 40th anniversary of the opening of the Museum of Cosmonautics, MIR 24 invites you to test your knowledge and take our test.
