Queen Elizabeth II of Great Britain visited the site of the longest and most famous British TV series, Coronation Street.
Together with the actors, the queen walked through the streets of Witherfield, the fictional city where the action of the soap opera takes place, and went to the Rovers Return pub, well known to the audience of the series, reports the BBC.
Coronation Street celebrates its 60th anniversary this year. Filming for the series officially began in December 1960 and continues to this day. The film is set in a small town created for filming in Salford, and tells about the life of people in an ordinary British province.
Previously, the Coronation Streets site was located in Manchester, but in 2013 the shooting was moved to Salford, on the realities of which much of its plot is based.
For the queen herself, a visit to the set is not a unique phenomenon. So in 2012, the reigning lady starred in a video dedicated to the opening of the Olympic Games in London. According to the director's plan, in addition to Elizabeth II, actor Daniel Craig starred in the role of James Bond in a cameo (the role of herself) in the minifilm. At the end of the video, the Queen and Bond parachute out of a helicopter hovering over the arena of the Olympic Stadium.
For this, Elizabeth II in 2013 was awarded the British Academy of Film and Television Arts Award for the best performance as a James Bond girl.
