Quarrel with Hamilton? That's what substitute Russell says

Hamilton, Russell

The relationship between world champion Lewis Hamilton and substitute George Russell is said to be more than tense. Now the Williams driver cleared up.

While the seven-time world champion missed the second Bahrain Grand Prix of the past season due to a corona infection, Mercedes junior Russell got into the black “Silver Arrow” and promptly delivered an extremely strong performance. Only a flat tire at the pit stop cost a possible victory.

That's why Hamilton is said to have been pissed off. In any case, Russell announced weeks ago that he hadn't spoken to the series world champion since the race.

The 23-year-old Williams driver himself put this into perspective. “There are no problems between Lewis and me,” said Russell on the sidelines of the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix in Imola.

Instead, Russell was simply misinterpreted. “I was asked if I spoke to Lewis after Bahrain. We didn't, but we didn't have that after any other race either,” said the Williams driver. However, the relationship has not changed: “If we saw each other in the paddock, we would talk. That’s how it was since 2019 and last year before Bahrain.”

In any case, Hamilton and Rassell will hardly meet each other on the route. The Williams' performance is not strong enough for that.
