Quarantine has affected the rate of aging of people
The quarantine restrictions affected the aging rate of people who continued to work in self-isolation. Scientists from the Moscow State Psychological and Pedagogical University (MGPPU) found that people after leaving the quarantine felt younger, reports Vechernyaya Moskva.
But it was a subjective feeling. In fact, the biological rate of aging was increasing.
Several groups of volunteers were involved in the study: working people over 35, working retirees and non-working retirees with chronic diseases. They were examined both before and after the 6-month quarantine.
The results showed that young women after quarantine felt 3.3 years younger, pensioners – 7.2 years. For men, these indicators were 6.8 and 4.7 years, respectively.
The scientists noted that the blood pressure in most of the participants approached normal, but physical development suffered due to the lack of activity.
In addition, it turned out that the biological age of working study participants increased by more than a year during the study period (6 months). The authors stressed that this is above the norm. The biological age of non-working pensioners has not changed.
Previously, scientists have revealed the causes of “broken heart syndrome.” It turned out to be associated with prolonged stress.
