Qualcomm recently introduced a new smartphone processor Snapdragon 888+, which differs from the regular Snapdragon 888 in CPU frequency. As it turned out, the company's novelties are not limited to this – it has big plans for the laptop market.
Qualcomm today announced that it wants to release a new mobile processor for laptops in 2022. It will use the Nuvia architecture.
A Qualcomm spokesman said the company will offer chips that will not only compete with the Apple M1, but can also outperform the processor. Qualcomm is committed to offering “the best performance for battery-powered devices.”
The Qualcomm chip is expected to deliver a 40-50% improvement in IPC performance over 10th Gen Intel and AMD Zen 2 processors, while requiring far less power.
