Quadripartite meeting on unblocking Ukrainian grain in Istanbul: first results announced

On Wednesday, July 13, a meeting of delegations of Ukraine, Russia, Turkey and the UN on unblocking grain from Ukrainian ports.

UN Head António Guterres believes that the negotiations on the “green corridor” had a positive result.

UN Speaker Farhan Haq, commenting on the talks, said that “positive decisions” were made, but he did not say what exactly he was talking about.

According to the publication, diplomats say that the details of the discussed grain export plan include participation Ukrainian ships guiding grain ships through port waters mined by a terrorist country. At the same time, Russia allegedly agrees to a truce in the movement of goods, and Turkey, with the support of the UN, inspects the ships in order to dispel Russia's speculation about illegal weapons.

As Turkish Defense Minister Hulusi Akar summed up the talks, the parties agreed:

Recall that the first talks between Ukraine and Russia with UN and Turkish officials took place in Istanbul, Turkey. Delegations from Ukraine, Russia, Turkey and the UN discussed how to unblock the export of Ukrainian grain from ports, including from the main Black Sea port of Odessa.
