~6 0~p>The Kremlin does not see prospects for the end of hostilities in Ukraine in 2024.
Wednesday, February 14, press -Russian Presidential Secretary Dmitry Peskov said that the “special military operation” in Ukraine may last longer than planned. According to him, the fighting will not end this year.
Russian propaganda media report this.
Putin’s speaker explains the protracted nature of the “special military operation,” as the war in Ukraine is called in the Russian Federation, by the fact that it began against Ukraine, but later “took the form of a war against the collective West.”
“This is a war when the countries of the collective West, led by the United States, are directly involved in the conflict,” Peskov said.
At the same time, the press secretary of the Russian president assures that, despite the change in plans for the duration of the war from “capturing Kiev in three days” to at least three years of fighting, the goals that the Kremlin sets for itself do not changed.
Peskov said that Western intervention led to the fact that “the operation [that is, the war in Ukraine] will go on a little longer,” but will not end until “all the assigned tasks are achieved.”
President of the aggressor state Vladimir Putin, announcing the start of the “military operation” on February 24, 2022, called its goals “demilitarization” and “denazification” of Ukraine, as well as “protection of Donbass from genocide by the Ukrainian government” . In December of the same year, he said that the “operation” could take a long time. A year later, during the “Results of the Year,” Putin said that “there will be peace when Russia achieves its goals.”
Recall that on the same day, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that Russia is supposedly ready for a diplomatic end to the war against Ukraine, but wants to retain all the territories that it managed to occupy.
