“Putin’s machine is working”: Polish journalist about protests on the border with Ukraine

by alex

A Polish journalist told what the situation looks like on the Ukrainian-Polish border.

The protests of Polish farmers on the border with Ukraine have a powerful a flood of propaganda and disinformation. The protesters have slogans such as “Putin will come and restore order.” There was even a banner of the Soviet Union. Obviously, this is a provocateur. It is impossible for an ordinary Pole to write such a thing.

Polish journalist Tomek Walczak told UNIAN about this.

However, in his opinion, among the protesters there are people who were either actually paid, or who became victims of Russian propaganda. And although there are very few of them, there are provocateurs.

“And there are politicians who do not have any influence on the political life of Poland, they do not have voter support, but they appear on the border to incite conflict. Putin’s “machine” is working. They don’t talk about this officially, but I will say: the situation at the border provokes anti-Ukrainian sentiments. They are maturing in society. There are risks that in the future this may affect the attitude towards Ukrainians, Ukraine. On the other hand, Donald Tusk (Prime Minister of Poland – ed.) at a press conference said that we will always with Ukraine, that nothing changes in terms of support. And Poland intends to support the protesters, solve their problems, for example, enter into some kind of agreement with Ukraine to limit the flow of products,” Walczak noted.

According to the journalist, the majority of participants in the blockade on the Polish-Ukrainian border really believe that competition from Ukrainian products affects their income.

So, in April 2023, supplies of Ukrainian grain to Poland were banned.

“Its flow has decreased greatly, and it should not remain with us, but… but some remains. There are entrepreneurs who take advantage of the situation. At the same time, the amount of grain entering Poland is not so great as to cause a fall prices. The protesters will not say this, but the statistics speak for themselves. At the same time, there is a real problem of competition between Polish and Ukrainian food producers. The war will end, Ukraine will join the EU, but this issue will remain for many years. The EU has many laws “, which must be observed, everything is much stricter than in Ukraine. Now your products are cheaper, so there is indignation,” explains Tomek Walczak.

Remember, in Poland, unknown persons again scattered Ukrainian grain – Kubrakov started talking about sabotage.
