Putin fears that Ukraine will eventually receive permission to strike Russian targets. His threats no longer frighten the West.
Lithuanian Defense Minister Laurynas Kaščiūnas and his German counterpart Boris Pistorius commented on Kremlin dictator Vladimir Putin's nuclear threats during a joint press conference.
LRT reports on this.
The Lithuanian Defense Minister said that Putin's loud statements about the use of nuclear weapons indicate that he is actually afraid of the consequences that await Russia after Ukraine receives permission to use long-range Western weapons to strike targets in the Russian Federation.
“We have all heard Putin's words. I believe that the key message is not in what he said, but in the fact that that his words about the new doctrine make it clear that giving Ukraine the ability to strike at long distances is a really important issue, and he is afraid of it,” Kasciunas noted.
The German Defense Minister agreed with his colleague and emphasized that Putin's “nuclear scares” are no longer scary to anyone.
“I can repeat that this is Putin's usual rhetoric. He speaks loudly and spreads his threats. But this should not scare us. We will do what we consider necessary. He can spread it through his channels, but it will not scare us,” Pistorius emphasized.
Recall that Duda responded to the Kremlin dictator’s latest nuclear threats. According to the Polish president, Putin knows that he will be damned if he uses nuclear weapons.
