The Kremlin's master may be arrested in Rio de Janeiro.
Russian President Vladimir Putin, who has been issued an arrest warrant by the ICC for war crimes, will not be able to attend the BRICS summit in Brazil in person.
This was reported to Russian propagandists by the Russian president's assistant for foreign policy issues, Yuri Ushakov.
Putin's ally explained that the Brazilian government was unable to “take a clear position” that would allow Putin to take part in the BRICS summit in person.
This decision is connected “with certain difficulties in the context of the ICC requirements,” Ushakov noted.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov will travel to Rio de Janeiro, where the leaders of the BRICS countries will meet on July 6-7.
The Kremlin's master, who is unable to visit more than 120 countries due to the threat of arrest, will participate in the summit via video link.
Let us recall that so far the only country that has ratified the Rome Statute and has not arrested Vladimir Putin was Mongolia. During his visit in September 2024, the Russian war criminal was received there with honors.
