Putin Will Have to Answer for This: What Trump Will Now Be Keeping a Close Eye on

Key points

  • Donald Trump has demonstrated that he is capable of moving from a policy of appeasement to tough and decisive action. The recent strikes on Iran demonstrated this.
  • Dictator Putin must understand that Trump may one day change policy on the war in Ukraine.
  • Trump also recently made an interesting statement.

The United States recently struck Iran's nuclear facilities. Donald Trump has shown that he can move from appeasement to decisive action.

The founder of the “Democratic Russia” movement, Yevgeny Savostyanov, told Channel 24 about this, noting that at least in one direction, Trump has admitted that the policy of appeasing the aggressor does not justify itself. This is also a signal to dictator Putin. Perhaps, one day, the US president will begin to act more harshly towards Russia.

Trump made an interesting statement

As Savostyanov noted, Trump also recently responded to a message from the Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev. The latter spat on the US strikes on Iran's nuclear facilities. He even began to hint that “several countries” are ready to directly transfer nuclear weapons to Iran.

It was a mistake. Trump reacted so harshly to Medvedev's nonsense that he had to justify himself. It is obvious that the US President is now waiting to see how dictator Putin will react to Medvedev's words.

Putin will have to respond to this. Trump will be closely watching what disciplinary measures Putin will take. Obviously, conclusions will be drawn depending on what Putin's reaction will be, Savostyanov said.

If such statements by Medvedev or other representatives of the Putin regime continue, this could affect their relations with the United States.

Let us add that Medvedev began to justify himself after Trump's statement. He insisted that Russia was not going to transfer nuclear weapons to Iran.
