Russian President Vladimir Putin said that in 2014 he personally persuaded the fifth president of Ukraine, Petro Poroshenko, to abandon the military operation in Donbass. He stated this at the annual big press conference, which is broadcast on Youtube by TASS.

“I personally tried to persuade Poroshenko in 2014:“ just not a military operation ”. “Yes, yes,” and he started, ”Putin said.

He also admitted that Kiev is preparing a third military operation. “But we must think about the prospects for our security in the near future. Wait for the fuck up? This is a serious issue, ”the head of state said.

He called the losses and the Minsk agreements the result of the war in Donbass. “Are they good or not? The only possible ones. What's the problem? They don't want to do it. The Russians living in these territories were declared a non-indigenous people. Then the Russians are squeezed out of the historical territory, ”Putin added.

The armed conflict in Donbass has been going on for several years. In April 2014, the Ukrainian authorities launched a military operation against the self-proclaimed Donetsk and Luhansk People's Republics (DPR and LPR), which declared independence from Kiev after the change of central government.

They are trying to resolve the crisis with the help of the Minsk agreements, which were agreed in February 2015 by the leaders of the Normandy Four – a diplomatic group of representatives from Germany, Russia, France and Ukraine to resolve the situation in Donbass.
