Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a law on the liability of owners for sunken ships. Thus, the owners will be subject to administrative punishment for the sinking of ships for their disposal and violation of the requirements in relation to them. This was reported by RIA Novosti with reference to the relevant document.
Administrative liability threatens the owner of the sunken floating craft for violation of the requirements for their removal from the water area, including failure to comply with the removal deadlines, as well as the lack of a certificate of insurance.
In addition, punishment threatens for the disposal of a sea vessel by flooding within the internal sea waters of Russia, in the water area of the Northern Sea Route or inland waterways.
Earlier, Putin signed a decree obliging business owners to eliminate environmental damage caused by them. According to the law, the owners of enterprises will not be able to completely stop hazardous production without eliminating the accumulated damage to the environment.
