At a meeting with the government, Russian President Vladimir Putin expressed dissatisfaction with the fact that officials did not fulfill his instructions. The Cabinet of Ministers was supposed to prepare measures to achieve long-term goals in the space sphere by August 30, but did not. Due to such delays, plans for the development of the industry may be thwarted, the head of state warned.
Putin recalled that his last meeting with the government on space issues took place in April. Then, following the meeting, the head of state instructed by August 30 to prepare measures to achieve long-term goals in the space sector.
“A number of decisions have already been made – for example, the program for the development of the Russian navigation system GLONASS for the period up to 2030 has been approved. I would like to note that the entire set of measures with appropriate funding had to be approved by August 30. However, this has not been done so far, which jeopardizes our plans for the development of the industry as a whole, ”the president said.
Putin asked the responsible members of the government to explain what caused the delay and when the work will be completed.
During the meeting, the head of state emphasized that Russia is the leader in the space launch market. Last year, all 17 launch vehicles were successfully launched, over the past months of this year – all 15. Putin also added that in nuclear space technologies the country is ahead of all the others “by 6-7 years.” He urged to use this advantage.
In the spring, Vladimir Putin proposed a 50% increase in the salary of those who flew into space and who occupy prominent positions in the cosmonaut corps. He proposed to the astronaut candidates to raise their salaries by 70%. After indexation, the latter should receive almost 300,000 rubles, and experienced cosmonauts, on average, a little more than 500,000 rubles.
