Putin says Iran-Israel war is “in the past” after denying Tehran air defense

The Kremlin master is ready to continue economic cooperation with his strategic ally after the American and Israeli strikes.

Vladimir Putin

Russian President Vladimir Putin stated that the conflict between Israel and Iran can now be considered over.

He said this in his speech at the plenary session of the Eurasian Economic Forum in Minsk.

“The situation in the Middle East is calming down. The conflict between Israel and Iran is also, thank God, considered a thing of the past,” Russian propagandists quote the Kremlin boss as saying.

At the same time, Putin added that the end of the conflict, in his opinion, opens up new prospects for the development of cooperation between the countries of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) and the states of the region, including Iran.

He also recalled that a free trade zone agreement had been concluded with Tehran, which came into force in May.

Putin's statement about the end of the conflict in the Middle East came just a few days after the visit to Moscow of Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, who asked the Kremlin to provide new air defense systems.

According to sources of The Wall Street Journal, on June 23, at a meeting in Moscow, Abbas Araghchi asked Russia to help with the supply of air defense systems and to facilitate the restoration of equipment for Iranian nuclear energy.

The day before, on June 25, US President Donald Trump declared that the conflict between Iran and Israel was over.

Let us recall that Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei stated in his video address that his country had “defeated” Israel and given “a loud slap in the face to America.”

On June 24, Iran began celebrating its “victory” over Israel.
