Russian President Vladimir Putin pointed out that NATO is making dangerous attempts to develop the territory of Ukraine, during a conversation with his American counterpart Joe Biden. This was reported on the Kremlin website.
Putin noted that the responsibility for the situation in Ukraine should not be shifted onto Russia, since it is NATO that is building up its military potential at the Russian borders. He stressed that Russia is seriously interested in obtaining reliable guarantees that would rule out the expansion of the alliance in the eastern direction and the deployment of offensive weapons systems in the countries neighboring Russia.
The talks between Vladimir Putin and Joe Biden were held on December 7 via a special video link. In particular, the American leader voiced the concern of the United States and European allies with a build-up of Russian forces near the borders of Ukraine and made it clear that they would respond with decisive economic and other measures in the event of a military escalation.
