Putin made a new statement about his “peace proposals”

Putin threatens changes to "peace proposals" regarding Ukraine, depending on the situation at the front.

Russian dictator Vladimir Putin called the expected reaction of the West to his “peace initiatives” regarding Ukraine.

He stated this on June 20 at a press conference following his visit to Vietnam.

“I expected exactly such a reaction – at the first stage. But what will happen later – time will tell. Everything will depend on how the situation on earth changes,” said the dictator.

He also noted that “hopes for behind-the-scenes negotiations with Western countries were not justified.”

In addition, Putin threatened that his proposals to supposedly “settle the situation in Ukraine” will not last forever.

“Russia's terms for a settlement in Ukraine will change depending on the situation on the line of contact,” he said.

Recall that recent statements by Russian President Vladimir Putin about his alleged readiness for peace negotiations with Ukraine caused a skeptical reaction not only in Kyiv, but also among Western partners. Ukrainian and Western officials have called Putin's so-called “peace initiatives” a “profanation” and an attempt to buy time to build up military capabilities.
