The Russian dictator called the current US President more experienced.
Former United States President Donald Trump, who is seeking to retake office in the November election, praised Vladimir Putin's statement that it is better for Russia that Joe Biden remains in the White House.
Newsweek writes about this.
Speaking to supporters at a campaign rally in North Charleston, South Carolina, on the evening of February 14, Trump said he would do “amazing” things if he won the election, including “very quickly” will end the war between Russia and Ukraine.
“President Putin of Russia just paid me a big compliment,” Trump continued. “He just said that he would like to see Joe Biden as president, not Trump.” Now that's a compliment. A lot of people said, “Oh God, this is really bad.” No, no, that's good.

Trump told supporters on Wednesday that it was no surprise that Putin would like to see Biden in the White House after he ended Nord Stream 2, a Russian gas pipeline that would have doubled Russian natural gas exports to Germany, in during his first term as President.
In December 2019, Trump imposed sanctions on the Russian state gas company behind the pipeline, but the Biden administration lifted those sanctions in May 2021.

“I stopped it, it was a dead deal,” Trump said from the stage in South Carolina.
“[Biden] took office and he immediately approved it,” he continued. “I said, “I can’t believe it.”
At a time when sanctions were lifted, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said that it was in the US interest to allow an agreement to be concluded on Nord Stream 2.
“Today's actions demonstrate the Administration's commitment to energy security in Europe, consistent with the President's promise to renew relationships with our allies and partners in Europe,” Blinken said in a press release at the time.
Experts have said in the past that Putin is hoping Trump wins a second term so he can broker a peace settlement in Ukraine that would benefit Russia. The former president said he could end a nearly two-year war in 24 hours, and he recently faced criticism for suggesting he would “encourage” Moscow to attack any country in the NATO military alliance that fails to meet the alliance's defense spending targets.
