September 29. FINMARKET.RU – The Russian government has not yet approved a set of measures to achieve the long-term goals of the Russian Federation in space, which poses a threat to plans for the development of the industry, said Russian President Vladimir Putin.

At a meeting on the development of the space industry, he recalled that in April the government was instructed to prepare a set of measures to achieve long-term goals in the space sector.

“A number of decisions have already been made. For example, the program for the development of the Russian navigation system GLONASS until 2030 has been approved,” he said in this regard.

At the same time, Putin noted that “the entire set of measures with appropriate funding had to be approved by August 30, but this has not yet been done, which jeopardizes our plans for the development of the industry as a whole.”

The President asked the meeting participants to report on the reasons for this delay and when this work will be completed.

Putin also said that in order to compete in the space launch market, Russia must maintain a high level of reliability of domestic technology and master the next generation of launch vehicles that meet the requirements of customers both domestically and abroad.

During the meeting on the development of the space industry, the President noted that Russia occupies a leading position in the space launch market, recalling that all 17 launch vehicles were successfully launched last year, and all 15 over the past few months of this year.

“At the same time, international competition in this segment is growing, you know this very well, we have already discussed this topic many times,” the head of state said.

Putin noted that in order to succeed in this competitive struggle, it is necessary to maintain a high level of reliability both in the field of manned astronautics and in the field of placing cargo into orbit.

“And, of course, we need to master the next generation of launch vehicles that meet all the requirements of customers – both domestically and on the international market abroad,” he said.

Separately, Putin asked to report on what Roscosmos is doing to increase the competitiveness of Russian missiles, while he asked for a separate comment on the work on the Angara missile system.

The President recalled that the launch pad for the Angara is being built at the Vostochny cosmodrome. “I would like to note that the first stage of the cosmodrome has already entered serial launches, four of them have been carried out since the beginning of this year,” the head of state noted.

He stressed that for the development of orbital astronautics, increasing the launch of carrier rockets, it is necessary to strengthen the ground infrastructure.
