“Putin is ready to wage war for many more years” – head of the Bundeswehr

According to Pistorius, until the Ukrainians are able to negotiate, the country will need the support of Western partners.

German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius said that he does not see Kremlin head Vladimir Putin’s readiness for peace negotiations.

Pistorius said this during a dialogue on security policy at the Federal Academy for Security Policy September 13, Ukrinform reports.

According to Pistorius, the Kremlin is not ready for serious negotiations. This can only be discussed when Putin signals that he wants to talk while the dictator is ready to prolong the war for many more years.

“Therefore, there is no basis for visible conversations yet… I do not see any signs of this,” – the minister noted.

Pistorius also said that he does not know whether any preliminary negotiations are ongoing through diplomatic channels, but did not rule out such a possibility.

At the same time, according to head of the German Ministry of Defense, Ukraine must win, and not just “must not lose.”

“In the end, it is not for us to decide on what terms peace will be concluded, the Ukrainians will decide, we must leave this issue them. Anything else would be our attack on their sovereignty,” Pistorius said.

However, he is confident that not all Russians, if they could speak freely, support the war, as Putin wants everyone to believe. He called the Kremlin authorities are a “criminal repressive regime”, and the fact that the people were dragged into a war against a neighboring country is “unbearable.”

We recall that Boris Pistorius previously spoke out about the transfer of long-range Taurus missiles to Ukraine. According to him, this does not depend on whether the US provides ATACMS to the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
