“Putin is a bandit!”: Biden called on congressmen to immediately pass a bill to help Ukraine

The US President said he was "determined" and continue to do our part to help Ukraine.

US President Joe Biden on Friday, March 15, said that the US Congress should immediately approve a bipartisan national security bill providing financial assistance to Ukraine. Biden made this statement during an event at the Capitol in honor of a meeting with Irish Prime Minister Leo Varadkar, which was also attended by the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Republican Mike Johnson.

The Voice of America writes about this.

During his speech, the US President emphasized that “wherever there is a desire for freedom, wherever there is a call for progress, people around the world can always count on Ireland and the United States to be on their side.”

The event was called “Lunch of Friends of Ireland” and became the occasion for new statements of support for Ukraine.

Biden also said he was “committed” to continuing to do his part to help Ukraine and called on everyone present to “stand up to Vladimir Putin.”

“I am confident that the vast majority of… members of Congress are ready to do their part, and I continue to urge every member in this room to stand up to Vladimir Putin. He is a thug!” – Biden said.

The US President also called on Congressmen to “immediately send” him the adopted national security bill, which would provide additional funds for Ukraine, Israel, Taiwan and humanitarian aid for Gaza.

Speaker of the House of Representatives Mike Johnson also gave a speech, but spoke only about “world peace” and did not mention Ukraine at all.

“Our hearts are heavy in many ways right now… because stability is under threat in Europe and the Middle East, and our allies and friends like Israel and Taiwan continue to struggle for our right to exist. And I know that everyone in this room is committed to the same thing. We know that we all must defend national sovereignty and work for peace,” Johnson said.

Recall that Speaker of the House of Representatives Mike Johnson took the initiative to help Ukraine only with a loan or lend-lease. However, the White House considers this format inappropriate.
