How Putin Threatened Ukraine
Putin suggested that Ukraine might be creating a “dirty” nuclear bomb and warned of an extremely harsh response from Russia.
What is a “dirty bomb”
A “dirty bomb” is a non-nuclear weapon that combines a conventional explosive charge with radioactive materials. Its primary purpose is to contaminate an area with radiation and cause panic, rather than to cause mass destruction.
According to the head of the Kremlin, the use of this type of weapon by Ukraine would be a “colossal mistake.”
Because both in our nuclear doctrine and according to common sense, we always respond to threats in kind. Therefore, our response will be very tough and, most likely, catastrophic – unfortunately, for all of Ukraine. I hope it will never come to that, Putin said.
When asked by journalists whether the Kremlin had any confirmed intelligence data on this matter, Putin replied that he was proceeding from the assumption that such ideas could allegedly arise in Ukraine.
By the way, Putin also does not rule out the possibility of capturing Sumy. However, he noted that Russia “does not have such a task.”
