Putin Didn't Appreciate Trump's Concessions: Portnikov on the Consequences of the US President's Indignation

Donald Trump's attitude toward Vladimir Putin changed after the Russian leader did not appreciate serious concessions from the United States.

The change in the American president's attitude towards the Russian leader after weeks of Donald Trump's approving comments about Vladimir Putin occurred because before the sixth phone call with the Kremlin dictator, the US president decided to force Putin to change his view on the war against Ukraine by making some serious concessions to Moscow.

This opinion was expressed by journalist Vitaly Portnikov on his YouTube channel.

Failed concessions and Putin's reaction

According to Vitaly Portnikov, such serious concessions in the Russian-American dialogue have never been made. Donald Trump decided to take the initiative by suspending military aid to Ukraine. Although the responsibility for this decision was officially placed on the Pentagon and its head Pete Hegseth.

However, as expected, Putin did not appreciate these steps of the American president. Portnikov noted that the Russian dictator always perceives any offer of compromise as weakness.

Lack of Compromise in Russian Politics

Putin's political line is to try to force others to do his bidding.

“Compromise is absent from the alphabet of Russian politics and Russian diplomacy,” Portnikov emphasized.

He added that for the Kremlin there is only complete victory and destruction of the enemy or its own defeat.

Obviously, Trump, who does not understand the Russian mentality, was outraged by Putin's behavior. But the more experienced politicians and diplomats were not surprised by the master of the Kremlin, because Russian and Soviet leaders always behaved exactly like this.

The Aftermath of Trump's Disappointment

It is precisely because of this disappointment in Russia's approach to negotiations that Donald Trump now speaks positively of his conversation with the Ukrainian president, emphasizing his willingness to continue to help Ukraine in its brutal war.

“We can only hope that these words of the American president will actually turn into concrete decisions to support Ukraine in the next period of the Russian-Ukrainian war,” concluded Vitaly Portnikov.

Let us recall that Western journalists believe that the US President gave Putin the “green light” and is deliberately helping the dictator to mercilessly destroy Ukraine.
