This opinion was expressed in an interview with Bild by CDU foreign policy expert Jürgen Hardt.
He called Alexei Navalny a certain symbol that Putin decided to destroy in front of the whole world.
“Putin wanted to send this symbol to the grave in a particularly disgusting and easy way, while world leaders and Navalny's wife in Munich talk about Putin's aggression,” said Jürgen Hardt.
According to him, Putin chose February 16 for the murder in order to express his disdain for the West.
The Kremlin dictator himself has not yet commented on Navalny’s death, although, according to his press secretary Dmitry Peskov, the owner of the Kremlin was immediately informed about it. Putin's reaction was manic – during a visit to the plant in Chelyabinsk, he laughed several times just minutes after he was informed of the death.
As previously reported, Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny, sentenced to 19 years in prison, suddenly died in a colony in the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug of the Russian Federation.
The cause of Navalny’s death was not officially announced. Propaganda media sources put forward a version that the oppositionist suffered a blood clot. At the same time, Navalny’s lawyer and mother were told in the colony that the cause was “sudden death syndrome.”
The oppositionist's relatives and comrades noticed that a few days before his death he felt well. On the eve of his death, on February 15, Navalny took part in a meeting of the Vladimir Regional Court via video link, felt fine, did not express any complaints, actively spoke, presented evidence in defense of his position.
Recall that on Saturday, February 17, the lawyer and mother of Russian oppositionist Alexei Navalny, who suddenly died in a colony in the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug of the Russian Federation, did not find the body of the deceased in the morgues of the city of Salekhard.
