Putin contradicts his own entourage: the dictator gave three signals to the West and Russians in his speech

Key points

  • Vladimir Putin declared his readiness for negotiations with Ukraine, but expressed doubts about the legitimacy of Volodymyr Zelensky.
  • Yuri Bogdanov believes that Putin is trying to improve his negotiating position.
  • Russia's economy is on the brink of crisis, but Putin contradicts his ministers by claiming the situation is improving.

Vladimir Putin held a press conference on the night of June 19, 2025. Oddly enough, the Kremlin dictator also made statements on Ukraine, touching on the topic of negotiations.

Putin said that he was allegedly ready to negotiate with our country and meet with Volodymyr Zelensky personally. Despite this, he expressed doubts about the legitimacy of the Ukrainian president. Strategic communications specialist Yuriy Bogdanov told 24 Kanal that in this way the dictator continues to insist on holding elections in Ukraine.

Putin's signals about war in Ukraine

Yuri Bogdanov noted that the Russian economy is now almost on the verge of collapse. The head of the central bank and the Russian Minister of Economy spoke about this at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.

Against this backdrop, Putin comes out and contradicts his own ministers, saying that everything is fine and will be even better. I think that he, as always, is trying to improve his negotiating position so that everyone is more willing to negotiate, but this, of course, will not happen, the strategic communications specialist emphasized.

Putin, with similar statements about his readiness for negotiations, is probably trying to solve three main problems.

The first is to keep Donald Trump from making any drastic moves against him.

The second is to intimidate Ukraine and Europe in order to force Ukrainian society to capitulate.

Third , he is trying to sell to his entourage and the Russians that he seems to have everything under control.

It is not yet known how long the Kremlin dictator will have the strength to carry out these tasks. Yuri Bogdanov believes that by the end of autumn 2025, if Russia's offensive on the front does not have significant success, Putin will be more amenable to negotiations than he is now.

Interestingly, the Kremlin dictator's press secretary Dmitry Peskov said that a potential meeting between the leaders of Russia, the United States and Ukraine is possible only after careful preparation. According to him, such an event should be the result of long-term diplomatic work. The Kremlin also expressed hope for a third round of talks with Ukraine, noting that the conditions now are already different from the situation three years ago.
