Putin Can Eat Him for Breakfast: Historian Assesses Trump's Ability to End the War in Ukraine

The promises that Donald Trump makes before the elections are not worth paying attention to.

Ukrainian historian Yaroslav Hrytsak is skeptical about the ability of US presidential candidate Donald Trump to end the war in Ukraine as a result of negotiations with the president of the aggressor state, Volodymyr Putin.

He said this in an interview with DW.

“Putin could eat someone like Trump for breakfast. Trump is a hero until he meets Putin. When he meets Putin, this heroism disappears very quickly,” the historian noted.

According to Yaroslav Hrytsak, the promises that Donald Trump makes before the elections do not deserve detailed discussion.

“I would not discuss Trump, because it is impossible to discuss,” he said.

Recall that Donald Trump has repeatedly stated that he knows how to end the war in Ukraine. Thus, in May 2023, he assured that he would end the war in 24 hours if he was elected President of the United States.

In January 2024, Trump said that if he comes to power in the United States, he would end the war “very quickly” because “Gets along great with Putin.”

After meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on September 27, US presidential candidate Donald Trump said Russia's war against Ukraine must be ended through a “fair agreement.”
