Russian President Vladimir Putin said that the government should monitor the housing sector

The regions are responsible for the housing and communal services system, however, the government should also control this area and help with solving problems as quickly as possible. Russian President Vladimir Putin called for this, according to RIA Novosti.
“The main responsibility for the state of affairs in the housing and utilities sector in Russia lies with the constituent entities and municipalities. It is clear why – the economy is huge, and on the ground you can better see the state of the heating and energy networks, generating facilities, boiler houses, ”the president said and stressed that the relevant federal ministry and the government as a whole should also monitor the situation in the regions.
Putin recalled that it is important for citizens that the system functions properly, regardless of who is responsible for it. The head of state stressed that control is especially important in settlements with harsh climatic conditions, since any accident there leads to serious consequences.
The president also said that in December 2021, a historical record for energy consumption was set in Russia. Putin noted that it is the sustainable supply of the domestic market that is a priority task for the government, and reminded that in this regard, a large-scale program of gasification of Russian regions was launched.
