Biden remembered how back in the summer of 2021 he met with Putin in Geneva and tried to reach a compromise on a number of issues. However, now “more than 100,000 Russians have invaded a country in the midst of Europe when we thought those times were already over.”
Biden said this during an event in California on June 10, according to the White House website.< /p>
“He doesn't want to just invade Ukraine, he wants to destroy Ukrainian culture because he thinks there is no independent Ukrainian culture. Look at what he's doing. He's not just wiping out what's left. He is destroying all their cultural centers, museums, schools, historical monuments. He is trying to destroy the culture,” the President of the United States said.
Biden emphasized that America could not stand by and allow this to happen. “It's just not possible,” Biden says. That is why Washington is strengthening NATO and providing assistance to Ukraine.
Recall that the US State Department said that wars end at the negotiating table, but in the situation with Russia's war against Ukraine, such negotiations will obviously not take place in the near future.
