Vladimir Putin has announced the launch of serial production of the Oreshnik missile for the second time this year. The Kremlin is using it as an element of nuclear blackmail and information pressure.
Channel 24 reports on this, citing statements by the Russian dictator. Vladimir Putin noted the start of serial production of the Oreshnik medium-range missile system.
Putin again scares Ukraine with old threats
However, this is already the second such statement in the last eight months – he spoke about the launch of the “series” back in November 2024.
This time, Putin voiced another version of the Areshnik launch during a meeting with graduates of Russian military universities, calling the missile “the newest” and one that “has proven itself well in combat conditions.”
What is known about “Oreshnik”
The first time the use of the Oreshnik became known was on November 21, 2024 – that’s when Russia first used it during a strike on the Dnieper. After that, Kremlin propagandists began actively promoting the missile as a “new threat” to Ukraine.
It is likely that this is a modified version of the RS-26 Rubezh missile, capable of carrying a nuclear warhead. According to Putin himself, the missile's speed can reach Mach 10 and its range can be up to 5,500 kilometers. However, most of the technical characteristics remain classified or exaggerated.
Let us recall that Putin’s statements about new missile weapons are often part of information and propaganda campaigns designed to intimidate the West.
