Putin and Hamas are fighting for the same thing: Biden in a column for the Washington Post

A Russian dictator and Islamist terrorists are trying to wipe a neighboring democracy off the map.

US President Joe Biden believes that with modern wars in Europe and the Middle East, the world is at an inflection point where decisions made will determine the direction for future generations. At the same time, he put Russian President Vladimir Putin and the Islamist terrorist group Hamas on the same level.

The American leader wrote about this in a column for the Washington Post.

“Both Putin and Hamas are fighting to wipe neighboring democracy off the map. Both Putin and Hamas hope to disrupt broader regional stability and integration and take advantage of the disorder. America cannot and will not allow this to happen. For our national security and for the good of the world,” Biden said.

He stressed that the United States is called upon to unite allies and partners to resist aggressors and make progress toward a brighter, more peaceful future. The American president said America was taking on this “duty of leadership” because otherwise the risk of conflict could spread and the costs of resolving it would only grow.

Joe Biden has outlined the main questions that need to be answered in the context of the crisis in Europe and the Middle East: “Can Israelis and Palestinians live side by side in peace, with two states for two people? Will we hold Vladimir Putin accountable for his aggression so that the people of Ukraine can live freely, and Europe remains an anchor of global peace and security?

The American leader believes that the Palestinian people deserve their own state and a future free from Hamas. He also stressed that the United States is not allowing American troops to participate in the Russian-Ukrainian war, but is providing weapons and economic assistance to stop Putin's quest for conquest and the spread of the conflict.

“We know from two world wars of the last century that when aggression in Europe goes unanswered, the crisis does not burn itself out. This directly involves America. Therefore, our commitment to Ukraine today is an investment in our own security. This prevents a wider conflict tomorrow,” Joe Biden emphasized.

Let us recall that earlier President Joe Biden asked Congress for help against Russia. We are talking about 61 billion dollars.
