The president of the aggressor state spoke for the first time about the murder of the Russian general in Moscow.
Russian President Vladimir Putin on Thursday, December 19, admitted at his annual press conference that the murder of General Igor Kirillov in Moscow was the result of the failure of the Russian special services.
CBS News reports this.
“Our special services miss such attacks. This means that we need to improve this work. We must not allow such very serious blunders,” Putin's statement is quoted as saying in the report.
At the same time, the publication noted that the president of the aggressor state first spoke about the murder of the Russian general more than 48 hours after the explosion in a residential area of the Russian capital.
Lieutenant General of the Russian Army Igor Kirillov was the commander of the radiation, chemical and biological defense troops of the Russian Armed Forces.
Ukrainian special services have claimed responsibility for liquidation of a war criminal, claiming that explosives had been planted in an electric scooter left at the door of a residential building. When Kirillov and his assistant left the building, they detonated, killing both of them.
The SBU called Kirillov a legitimate target, since he was involved in the mass use of banned chemical weapons in the frontline east of Ukraine.
Russia said it had detained the perpetrator, a citizen of Uzbekistan, born in 1995. According to Russian investigators, he was recruited by Ukrainian special services.
Recall that by eliminating Russian General Igor Kirillov, who was involved in war crimes against the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Ukrainian special services demonstrated to the Russian army command that there is no safe place for those waging aggression against Ukraine.
