The media reported that the recently announced portable Steam Deck is not yet able to run all games from the Steam library. Unplayable games include PUBG, Destiny 2, Rainbow Six Siege, and Apex Legends.
The console runs on a proprietary operating system SteamOS, which is based on Linux. It is reported that it is because of this that the above games do not start. The fact is that anti-cheat activation is required for their functionality, but they are not optimized for Linux.
For adaptation of games there is a tool Proton. Valve has already promised to improve the Proton add-on to make games compatible with SteamOS. Also, as you know, users will be able to install on the Windows console.
The Steam Deck will begin shipping in the US, Canada, the EU and the UK at the end of 2021. It is not known when the console will appear in Russia.
