White House spokeswoman Jen Psaki during a briefing answered a question from journalists about whether it is possible to expect contacts between US Presidents Joe Biden and Russian President Vladimir Putin in the near future. This is reported by TASS.
As Psaki noted, the American leader “spoke directly and frankly with President Putin many times, including personally” and “is always open to interaction at the level of heads of state, he knows how effective it is.” At the same time, she stressed that now she cannot predict anything about Biden’s future contacts with Putin.
According to her, the US president “meets daily with his team dealing with national security issues, receiving the latest information” and aides can give him a recommendation to talk to Putin, which she promised to inform.
Earlier, Biden called the question of one of the journalists about his approaches to working with his Russian counterpart stupid. At the end of the public event, a representative of the Fox News channel shouted: “Why are you waiting for Putin to make the first step, sir?” Which side of the relations between the two states she was talking about is not specified. Biden replied that he considered the journalist’s question stupid.
