Many have been trying for several months without success. To get a Playstation 5, you need luck – or money.
Semiconductors are essential for the manufacture of microchips, for example. There is currently a massive shortage of those semiconductors. This affects not only car manufacturers, but also manufacturers of electrical appliances. So does Sony with its new flagship – the Playstation 5.
This has been on the market since November. But it is hard to come by in practice. Only individual devices gradually trickle into the dealerships, seconds later they are sold out. Only those who put a few hundred euros more on the table can buy a copy from dubious resellers.
Countless people check the usual dealers day after day, in the vast majority of cases without success. The statements of those in charge of Sony are eagerly awaited every day, now it's that time again.
But these were again the same phrases as in the previous weeks. It is expected that the delivery situation will improve in the course of the year. But this pace sounds a lot more cautious if you believe division boss Jim Ryan of the “Financial Times”:
He could not give any guarantee that there will be enough devices for everyone interested in the Christmas business.
In November and December, Sony only sold 4.5 million devices. For comparison: the Playstation 4 sold around 115 million times. Especially painful for many video game lovers during lockdown times.
