Internet.

In Russia, they began to write out fines for violating the law on the “sovereign Runet”. We are talking about the mandatory connection to the National Domain Name System (NDNS). Roskomnadzor drew up the first administrative protocols for the integrator Technoserv AS, the hosting provider Mediasoft Expert and the provider Photon Telecom. They face fines of up to 100,000 rubles, Kommersant reported.

The law came into force on November 1, 2019. He assumes that if the national segment of the Internet is disconnected from the global network, Russian resources will not suffer. For the lack of connection to the NSDI since the beginning of 2021, a fine of 60,000-100,000 rubles is provided.

According to the information on the website of justices of the peace, 12 cases have already been registered under this article, including against the provider Photon Telecom and the hosting provider Mediasoft Expert. The companies do not comment on the situation.

The meeting regarding Technoserv AS will be held on September 6. Technoserv AS was told that they had already notified the department about the connection to the NSDI.

According to experts, companies are afraid of failures when connecting to the system. The author of the Esher II Telegram channel, Philip Kulin, told the newspaper that providers understand possible connection problems and believe that “it will be easier to pay small fines.”

Moscow Digital School teacher Oleg Blinov said that NSDI duplicates the existing domain name system, which is responsible for traffic routes. “With the help of this system, users get to the sites they want – it turns the site address into an IP address, which is used to establish a connection,” – he explained. Blinov added that if the international domain name system disappears at some point, the NSID will work in its place.

All requests will go through the Main Radio Frequency Center (GRCHTs), subordinate to Roskomnadzor. According to experts, this will allow the regulator to collect data on user transitions to specific sites.

Earlier, “Secret” wrote that the HRChTS published a tender for the development of a prototype of a unified system for accounting for advertising turnover in Runet. The center is ready to spend almost 100 million rubles on the system.
