Detention of a protester in Minsk, November 8
At least 59 people were detained in Belarus from November 16 to 21 for political reasons, thus the total number of arrests during the protests reached 29 940, the newspaper “Nasha Niva” writes, citing the calculations of the human rights center “Viasna”. He knows about 523 Belarusians who are being prosecuted. Among them, Sergei Tikhanovsky and Viktor Babariko, who were not allowed to participate in the elections, as well as journalists Yekaterina Borisevich and Yekaterina Andreeva.

Former presidential candidate Svetlana Tikhanovskaya called on citizens to take to the streets on November 22. “I support everyone who goes out to their yard tomorrow and strolls around their native district. Every step leads to a free and fair Belarus,” she wrote in her Telegram channel.
At the same time, Tikhanovskaya once again called the OMON and the Main Directorate for Combating Organized Crime and Corruption (GUPOPiK) “terrorist organizations” and stressed that they “do not have enough strength to come to every house in every city in Belarus.” Earlier, a number of Belarusian Telegram channels announced the March 22 against Fascism.

One of the leaders of the Belarusian opposition, Maria Kolesnikova , who is in a detention center in Zhodino, said that she did not regret the passport torn at the border. “I wouldn’t change a single decision. And I don’t regret one iota of the campaign, or the passport, or the refusal to leave Belarus,” Maria Kolesnikova wrote in a letter to her sister Tatyana Khomich, which she published on Facebook. Kolesnikova's arrest was extended until January 8. The court rejected the appeal of her defense to extend the term of detention of the oppositionist.
