Protests against coronavirus restrictions swept across Europe and the United States
In Europe, they do not want to wait for the end of the pandemic. Amid severe restrictive measures, protests are mounting in some countries.
Hundreds of residents participated in a protest in the Danish city of Aarhus. With flames lit, they marched through the central streets, demanding that the authorities lift restrictive measures. They were extended for another three weeks to stop the spread of the new COVID-19 strain.
In the Austrian capital, protesters gathered in small groups. On the eve, authorities banned mass rallies to maintain a safe distance. Violators, including those without masks, were fined. The strict isolation regime in Austria has been in effect since December 26.
And in Italy, business leaders are required to better protect workers' rights during a pandemic. Hundreds of participants in a rally organized by trade unions gathered in Milan's famous square. With red banners in their hands, the activists chanted slogans.
In the American Los Angeles, the authorities had to close the largest coronavirus vaccination center at Dodger Stadium for an hour. The reason was about fifty activists who opposed vaccinations. Among them were dissatisfied with the lockdown. As a result of the incident, dozens of cars lined up for vaccinations.
