In Minsk, protesters recaptured one of the detainees from the security forces. The video was published by the Telagram-channel Tut.by.
The footage shows a group of people running out onto the carriageway, where two law enforcement officers detain a protester lying on the ground. The protesters surrounded the security forces and helped the detainee to get up. The police had to retreat.
Earlier it was reported that over 80 people were detained at the Sunday protest in Minsk. Most were taken into custody in Minsk, several people in Borovlyany, Zaslavl and Novopolotsk.
The security forces used special equipment to disperse the protesters. Before the start of the protest, military equipment was pulled into the center of Minsk.
The opposition called on its supporters to gather in the courtyards on November 22, and then move to the regional gathering points and march through the city together.
Protests in Belarus began in late August after the election of the head of state. The protesters demand the resignation of Alyaksandr Lukashenka and the entire leadership of the country, new elections, as well as an end to violence from the security forces and the prosecution of those who brutally dispersed the first protests after the elections and tortured the detainees.
