More than a dozen protesters were detained at a Sunday protest in Minsk. TASS reports.
The arrests took place in the area of the Kamennaya Gorka metro station. More than 100 people tried to hide in a shopping center, but security forces broke into it.
In total, according to human rights activists, during the rallies on November 22, law enforcement officers took into custody more than 80 people. Most were detained in Minsk, several people in Borovlyany, Zaslavl and Novopolotsk.
Earlier it was reported that the security forces began to use special equipment to disperse the protesters. On the recording, taken by eyewitnesses, explosions are heard and clouds of smoke are visible.
On November 22, the opposition urged its supporters to gather in courtyards, and then move to the district gathering points and march through the city together.
Before the start of the action, military equipment was pulled into the center of Minsk.
Protests in Belarus began in late August after the election of the head of state. The protesters demand the resignation of Alyaksandr Lukashenka and the entire leadership of the country, new elections, as well as an end to violence from the security forces and the prosecution of those who brutally dispersed the first protests after the elections and tortured the detainees.
