In the United States, a jury found the famous American scientist Charles Lieber guilty of concealing scientific ties with China and the resulting income, according to the CBS television channel.

According to the TV channel, the jury of the federal court in Boston found it proven that the former dean of the Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Biology at Harvard University made false statements to the authorities, submitted incorrect tax returns and did not inform him that he had a PRC bank account.

As the investigation found out, the 62-year-old scientist, who is considered one of the world's leading experts in the field of nanomaterials, without informing the main employer, joined the Chinese program of recruiting scientific personnel “Thousand Talents” and received a position at Wuhan University of Technology.

In addition to an income of $ 50,000 a month, he was also paid operating expenses of up to $ 150,000 and was allocated more than $ 1.5 million to equip a research laboratory, the prosecution said.

According to the Wall Street Journal, in total, the American authorities have charged 24 other scientists with withholding information about links with Beijing.
