Procession of the “Immortal Regiment” took place in Shanghai
Russian-speaking residents of Shanghai held a march of the “Immortal Regiment” in honor of the 76th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War, TASS reports.
The march took place on the territory of the Russian Consulate General in Shanghai, about 120 people took part in it. Among them were citizens of Belarus, Kazakhstan, Ukraine and other countries.
The participants of the action, to the sound of a metronome, honored a minute of silence in memory of those who gave their lives in the fight against fascism. A concert of the Cossack creative collective “Stan” and the children's choir from the school at the Consulate General took place for the audience.
Earlier it was reported that the acceptance of applications for participation in the online march of the “Immortal Regiment” was extended until May 9. “It was decided to extend the acceptance of applications for the online march of the Immortal Regiment through the VKontakte and Odnoklassniki applications, as well as on the Memory Bank resource until 12:00 on May 9,” the organization said.
During the virtual parade, portraits of front-line soldiers and stories about them, which were prepared by the relatives of the participants in the war, will be shown. In each region of Russia, the online procession begins at 15:00 local time.
