Problems with mobile internet started in Minsk

by alex

Problems with mobile internet began in Minsk before the protest rally. This was reported by Nasha Niva.

It is clarified that the LTE network practically does not work, data download does not occur via 3G either. Because of this, Internet pages are either opened with a delay or do not open at all.

The same situation is observed with instant messengers.

Problems with mobile communications and the Internet occur in Minsk every Sunday, when the opposition organizes the largest protests. In September, the A1 operator reported that mobile Internet was limited “in connection with the order of the authorized state bodies.”

Earlier on Sunday, special equipment, buses with security forces and military trucks for transporting personnel were pulled into the center of Minsk. In the morning, traffic police cars blocked traffic on the streets adjacent to Independence Avenue. A large convoy of security forces' vehicles drove along the avenue in the direction of the center at about 10:40 Moscow time (coinciding with the local time).

On October 25, the deadline for the ultimatum that the former presidential candidate of Belarus Svetlana Tikhanovskaya put forward to the country's leader, Alexander Lukashenko, expires. She demanded that the president resign, the violence cease in the streets, and all political prisoners be released. The politician also demanded that the re-election of the head of state be held by the end of 2020.

The presidential elections in Belarus took place on August 9. According to official data, Alexander Lukashenko won over 80 percent of the vote, while Svetlana Tikhanovskaya won 10 percent. These results led to massive protests that have continued to this day.
