Pro-Russian Force Heads to Elections in Moldova

Ilan Shor announced that the pro-Russian Pobeda bloc will take part in the elections in Moldova. The leader of the list will be Eugenia Gutsul, who is involved in the case of illegal financing.

The Pobeda political bloc, linked to pro-Russian oligarch Ilan Shor, intends to submit documents to participate in the parliamentary elections in Moldova next week. The list is headed by the head of Gagauzia, Eugenia Gutsul, who is accused of illegally financing the party.

Ilan Shor himself stated this during the bloc’s congress held in Moscow on Sunday.

Shor called the upcoming election campaign “the dirtiest in history” and suggested that the current Moldovan authorities would try to remove the Pobeda bloc from the race. He also called for early elections after the current victory:

“Our main goal is to overthrow the fascist regime and hold democratic early elections within the next six months,” he said.

According to Shor, the bloc's list will be headed by the Bashkan of Gagauzia, Eugenia Gutsul. She is a defendant in a criminal case on illegal financing of the Shor party and has repeatedly found herself at the center of scandals.

Earlier it was reported that Russia had launched a large-scale hybrid campaign against Moldova on the eve of the important Moldova-EU summit, where the first cluster of negotiations on the country's accession to the European Union was officially opened.
