Former Crown Prince Hamza ibn Hussein
Moscow. April 5. INTERFAX.RU – Jordanian prince Hamza ibn Hussein does not intend to obey the army command, which ordered him not to communicate with the outside world and not to leave the palace, reports the Al-Jazeera TV channel.
“I don’t want to take steps and aggravate the situation, but of course, at the same time I’m not going to obey when they tell me“ you cannot go out, you cannot write on Twitter, you cannot communicate with people, you are allowed to see only yours family, “he said in an audio message posted on Twitter.
On the eve of Jordanian Deputy Prime Minister Ayman Safadi accused the prince of “malicious conspiracy” with foreign forces in order to destabilize the situation in the country. A day earlier, the Jordanian military said that they had warned Hamza ibn Hussein about actions that threaten the “security and stability” of the kingdom.
The prince himself denies involvement in the conspiracy.
Hamza ibn Hussein was the Crown Prince of Jordan, but was stripped of this title in 2004. This happened against the background of criticism of the monarchy, which was accused of corruption, nepotism and authoritarian rule.
Why the authorities decided to take action against Hamza ibn Hussein right now remains unclear, the media noted. According to some reports, the prince has recently attended tribal meetings where the king has been criticized.
